Puppy pies! Now Eddy has his own festive fall treats, and your pup will too! While we were eating all sorts of pies and cookies at Thanksgiving, I felt bad that Eddy was stuck with his regular biscuits. But it’s hard to bake treats for him because he is allergic to wheat, eggs, dairy, and a whole host of other things… That’s when I came up with this idea! Just oats, with canned pumpkin and unsweetened apple sauce.
To make the crust, I spooned cooked oats into little circles on a foil-lined cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for about 15 minutes, or until the crust seems like it’s keeping shape. Spoon the canned pumpkin and apple sauce onto your crusts, and bake for another 10 minutes. The filling will still be soft, but the crust should be firm enough to stay together so you can pick up your little pies.
The best part about these, is there are different textures, so they’re perfect for hiding pills! Eddy is sneaky and very good at finding pills when they are hidden in food or treats. With these, he wolfed the whole thing down before he got a chance to find the pill!
